As there is no difference between a business car and a company car, there is therefore no difference between Business Car Insurance and Company Car Insurance.
To be classed as a business car, a vehicle must be company-owned or owned by a company director. A car which is privately-owned by an employee but is insured to be used for work purposes is not classed as a business car, but rather, has ‘business use’ added onto a standard car insurance policy.
There are two main types of cover for business cars: Class 1 and Class 2. Class 1 allows the policy holder and any other driver to drive for social, domestic and pleasure purposes, as well as to travel between their home and permanent place of work. Class 1 also allows the policy holder only to drive in connection with their business or profession.
Class 2 allows the policy holder and any other driver covered by the policy to drive for social, domestic and pleasure purposes, as well as to travel between their home and permanent place of work. Class 2 also allows the policy holder and named driversto drive in connection with their business or profession.
